Volunteer at Madison Children’s Museum

Put a smile on a child’s face and make a difference in the community. Become an MCM volunteer! Ages 14 and up can volunteer on their own, and ages 8-13 can volunteer and gain work experience when accompanied by a caregiver.  Groups of adult volunteers can also volunteer for special events.

Volunteer Position Descriptions

All volunteer shifts are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Museum Volunteers help in the museum’s public spaces. Volunteers who are accepted make a commitment to a weekly two hour shift for at least two months.

• Rooftop Ramble: Help kids develop empathy for nature through experiences with animals and gardens. 
• Art Studio: Help kids develop their innate creativity by making art. 
• Play Ambassadors: Help kids enjoy active and creative play on the 2nd floor and throughout the museum. Operate our human sized Gerbil Wheel. 
• Wonderground: Help kids enjoy active and creative play in the Wonderground, our outdoor play area (April through October.) 

Group Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering for special events can be a meaningful experience for your work, civic, or educational group.

How to Apply

1. Complete the Volunteer Application Form below. 
2. Clear a background check. 
3. Interview in person, on zoom, or over the phone 
4. Attend a volunteer orientation. 
5. Sign up for volunteer shifts through Sign Up Genius 
6. Show up for the shifts you have signed up for. You will have training on your first shift and during additional shifts as needed.
